THE NEW GENERATION ERA PROJECT: SUPERSTARS REVIEW 06:12:1993

METRO CENTER
HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA

Macho Man was all over the place in the opening, hyping the King of The Ring. He says he might not be able to contain himself and he might just jump over the top rope and congratulate the new King and then beat him down and challenge him.

I wish that's what happened.

THE STEINERS vs. "IRON" MIKE SHARPE & RALPH LARUE
Iron Mike takes a couple of lumps early on and tags out so the young and impressionable Larue can eat the big stuff. Dragon Suplexes and nasty SteinerLines. It actually seems okay compared to some of the beat downs they've handed out to some jobbers in the past.....until the finish. They don't go for the Top Rope Bulldog. Instead Rick puts Larue on his shoulders and backs into the corner that Scotty is standing on top of.... and Scott DDT's Larue off Rick's Shoulders. It's awful.

I hope he got enough from catering. It'll be a while before he eats solids.
RAZOR RAMON vs. BURT CENTENO
Before the match, Bret gets on the TV and tells Razor he doesn't have a chance at winning the King of The Ring if he can't beat a Kid. He then gets the crowd to chant "1-2-3." Between Bret and Macho Man getting over the chant and The Kid, this has really played out perfectly. I feel like it should be looked at as a text book way to get a new character over.

Razor answers the challenge by making quick work of Centeno. Nothing special, but the Razor's Edge is still fun to watch.

"HACKSAW" JIM DUGGAN vs. MIKE BELL
I turned my head and the match was over. Hacksaw just came in and knocked this guy around for MAYBE 30 seconds before pinning him. Still better than watching Kamala roll a guy around.

THE UNDERTAKER vs.PJ WALKER
I actually covered this on a RAW Review, but this is the angle where Mr. Hughes and Giant Gonzalez take out The Undertaker and steal his urn.

MEN ON A MISSION ARE COMING
We get our first glimpse of M.O.M. as they do a little rap. I'm so excited, as I honestly can't remember anything about their matches. I remember them rapping, I remember them coming to the ring, but I must have blocked out their matches. Not a good sign, but we'll see.

MO IS GOING TO KILL YOU.
MONEY INC vs. TONY RAY & BUDDY LANE
Money Inc. moves quicker than usual. Schyster, in particular looked to be running a little faster and moving a lot snappier than he has in the past. Ted wins with the Million Dollar Dream. As they're winning Rick and Scott Steiner come out to a great reaction. Rick gets on the mic and requests a title shot "RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW". To which Jerry Lawler replied "They're trying the old Hulk Hogan Swerve." Hilarious.

Steiners get in the ring and Money Inc. act like they might do it, but roll out instead.

OVERALL SHOW:
Not as good as last weeks, which anchored by a more competitive match in Bret/Papa Shango. This week's was mostly squashes of varying caliber. If you dig watching Steiners violate wimpies, then you get a pretty good dose of that. Most of the orther squashes amounted to guys kicking a guy and hitting their finish.

I didn't mention it, but this week's and last week's have featured some GREAT Hogan promos. They're so good that I honestly wouldn't have believed he was going to lose going in. He talks a lot about this match being the deciding factor in whether Hulkamania lives on forever or dies brutally. Hell, he even mentioned that he was in the "twilight" of his career. In 1993. Funny.

Anyway, not really anything to go out of your way for.
