THE WWF NEW GENERATION ERA PROJECT: SUPERSTARS 07/17/1993 REVIEW

CIVIC CENTER
HUNTINGTON, WV

TATANKA vs. BRIAN COSTELLO

Tatanka wasn't messing around with this jabronie. Peppered him up with chops and hitting him with some meaty clotheslines. All Costello got in was a head slam into the turnbuckle, which was immediately shrugged off so Tatanka could Hulk up and whip his ass some more. I love seeing Tatanka fired up and taking advantage of jobbers.

ADAM BOMB vs. RICH MEYERS
Costello posing during his introduction. He's kind of a big deal.
Johnny Polo kept yelling "CAN I GET A WITNESS!?!" on the outside. Not much to this badboy as poor Rich just took a beating. Bomb looked good showing his power and agility. His slingshot clothesline is looking more impressive. While watching this match, I think I realized Sheamus might be everything I wish Adam Bomb was.

MACHO MAN IS DESTINED FOR THE HALL OF FAME
So they're building up the card for the next MSG show which features 123 Kid making his MSG debut against Doink, Jerry Lawler vs. Macho Man, and Bret vs Yoko in a steel cage match. After the report Vince says something about how Madison Square Garden has a Hall of Fame and that Jerry Lawler will be facing "A man, in my opinion, destined to be in the WWF HALL OF FAME, Macho Man Randy Savage."

I got kind of sad, thinking about how big an ass Vince is, but then Macho Man told Jerry Lawler, in regards to their meeting at MSG, "Don't buy any ripe bananas because you're not going to be around at all."

So yeah, that made me happy again.

WWF TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
THE STEINERS vs. MONEY INC
Let's watch it:

Great stuff here. IRS and Scott work really well together, and their early stuff with Irwin getting out wrestled  and having to get a rope break is really fun to watch. IRS and DiBiase both really brought it, looking more athletic than they have since I started this project. And really this is worth checking out to see how great Ted and Schyster are at working the crowd, because they had that place rocking by the time The Steiners were ready for a come back. Lots of fun sneaky heel tactics. The finish saw IRS nailing Scott with a briefcase after Scott hit his Frankensteiner and putting DiBiase on top for a pin. The ref counted a 3 in favor of Money Inc but a second ref came down and said there was some shenanigans and DQ'd them.

After the match Money Inc were livid saying that this wouldn't have happened to Bret Hart or Hulk Hogan. They challenged the Steiners to another bout next week on Superstars.  Backstage the Steiners agreed but said this would be their last shot. Can't wait for the rematch.

MR. HUGHES vs. SONNY ROGERS
Mr. Hughes whipped this guys ass and then tore up another wreath at ringside. Undertaker is going to be so upset.

OVERALL SHOW: Really a one match show with some decent squashes, and I don't mind that, especially with such a solid tag match. I can't wait to see the rematch. It really gave me more respect for the Steiners, who worked really well in a very different style of match than they're used to having.
