Technically this is the last Raw of August as next week will be the SummerSlam spectacular. No idea what to do with my title numbering. No idea why number the weeks anyway. What was I thinking?
TED DIBIASE vs. 123 KID
This was pretty solid stuff with DiBiase in control for most of it and Waltman bumping like crazy. The hope spots were perfectly executed and DiBiase was very curt and stiff when it came time to shut him down. It's too bad it ended in a DQ with IRS coming in to interfere.
After the match the Steiners came in to clear house and help Waltman out, which sets up a cage match between the two at the SummerSlam Spectacular, next Monday.
THE HEADSHRINKERS vs. MIKE KHOURY & DAVE MORALDO
Dave Moraldo continues the long jobber tradition of wearing a generic striped singlet. That singlet was always an instant skip when making a wrestler on Smackdown. Terrible.
Samu KO's Moraldo instantly with a super kick and then rolls him to the corner and pulls Khoury in by his head. Brilliant. They beat on Khoury and set him up for Fatu's splash, by doing a kind of Alley-Oop Hot Shot. Samu tosses him up and Fatu drives the guy across the ropes from the apron. Some tag team should steal that. Probably one involving Sugar Dunkerton. Call it Lob City. Anyway, it's a fun squash as always from the Samoans. The tag team scene is crazy good during this period.
MARTY JANNETTY vs. BASTION BOOGER
This isn't a bad match at all. Marty starts it of hot and heavy using speed to shut down the rotund Booger. His high risks pay off until he ends up eating a ring post on the outside. Booger follows it up by squashing him against the same post. The finish had Jannetty winning with a flash pin counter, that required him to kind of no sell getting pancaked by Booger's fatass. Still, I think you can point to this to being one of the best Bastion Booger matches, so...it's got that going for it.
On the replay, you can tell Jannetty is cracking up because his face is all up in Booger's junk FOR THE WIN!
|Is it really a win though?|
MEN ON A MISSION vs. IRON MIKE SHARPE & BARRY HOROWITZ
Horowitz has these crazy neon green and black tights that have little hand prints on them that are giving MoM's gear a run for their money. Nothing to special about this one other than the crazy gear. MoM win with that splash where Mo jumps from the top onto Mabel's back and they both come down on the opponent. It's not the best looking finish, but you know it would make you poop your pants if they hit it on you, so it works.
BAM BAM BIGELOW vs. RICH MEYERS
Bigelow treats this guy like crap. The best part he held up Rich for a vertical suplex and started jawing with some fans he'd been yelling at earlier. While he was yelling at him, he just let go of Rich who fell right on his coccyx. Brutal.
SEND EM HOME HAPPY I GUESS
The Macho Midget just walked out with four hot chicks and waved at everyone. That's it. No angle. No nothing. Just came out and waved. Awesome. THE END.
Instead of Monday Night Raw we get the "SummerSlam Spectacular", which is a kind of super card to hype up the PPV that Sunday. So we get Shawn Michaels vs. Bob Backlund, Steiners vs. Money Inc in a cage, and Jim Duggan vs. Yokozuna.
OVERALL SHOW: Every match had some cool moments, but there's not really a complete match worth grabbing. The interactions between Kid and DiBiase looked great, and I'd love to see them go even longer. Getting pretty psyched for SummerSlam. I've actually never seen it, so it'll be a completely brand new experience.
